TOP11/2023 MAGAZINE COVERS

While they say you cannot judge a book by its cover, when it comes to magazines you have to do just that, and judge tf outta it while you're at that. Of course, we read the stories, editorials, columns even Editor's words lol but in the end, a magazine it starts and it ends with its cover.  Seems superficial, because it is, but BUT, if you actually look more into it, you start discovering so much more in the details. It is the first thing people mention when the issue comes out. Especially people who don't read the magazine (we love them too). It tells you enough to know about what's inside the issue or in the case of People magazine - everything. The colors, the fonts, the pose, the clothes, that + sign in the corner, even when all seems silly they are very well thought and tend to set trends without you even realizing, for the months to come and worth every $ of that 50k+ cover photoshoot, or in case of GQ Magazine... for 10 covers. I mean, you don't hear people say "I loved that photo on page 55 of that magazine", do you?! But when you're on the cover, you're not just a girl on the cover. You are...A COVER GIRL!

Adele/The Hollywood Reporter

So what's new this year? Pretty much nothing. A line between an Instagram snapshot - because stars are people just like us - and nuances of black and white. These covers could have been from '90s or early '00s or maybe from the future and I wouldn't be able to tell. Like, magazines are not even trying. Dude with a camera and 15k followers has more interesting content than magazines with a 100ppl staff like HOW!!! We're going for candid darling! Nah, you're going for out of the business love. Just don't blame the market, the internet, readers and etc. Then there's some covers that leave you speechless. Adele on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter!!! Why did they make her look like one of those talking flowers on Sunday morning cartoons?!!! Was there any red left in the country after they finished this shoot? So...we're thinking ...rose but bigger! Ughhhhh! At least it wasn't a lily. Probably their second choice. I couldn't take that image out of my mind, but see? That's the power of a cover! It can be great or horrible but never basic. No one remembers that!  Here's our 11 faves:
